NIS – Home of Metrology in Egypt

NIS is the primary metrology laboratory for all of Egypt. When you buy a liter of gasoline for your car, when your company purchases 5000 tons of high-grade steel, when you use electricity – the weight, volume, dimensions and other physical properties of that material are measured by systems that can trace its calibration back to a “Standard” held by NIS. The accuracy of the NIS Standard is determined through a series of International collaborations that are designed to unify and harmonize measurements over the entire World.

Accurate and precise measuring systems, and the laws that enforce their use, allow us to place trust in other people. They are one of the building blocks of a modern, civilized society. NIS holds, maintains and develops the primary measuring systems for all of the basic parameters that allow our society to function.
